You’re forgiven

I want to remind you that what I’m about to say is for everyone. Whether you are a believer in Christ Jesus or not, this message is for you….

Have you lied, stolen, cursed, hurt, or done unexplainable things to people and now wish that you could reverse it?

Do you feel overwhelmed by feelings of guilt, shame, condemnation or fear? You’ve tried everything but cannot seem to shake these awful thoughts and feelings that fill your mind.

I have the answer for you….the answer lies in Jesus, and His finished work at the cross.

What does this mean?

The Bible says in Johnn 3:16 (NKJV)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

and again in Hebrews 10:12-14

But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

This means that no matter what you’ve done in your past, what you’ll do in the present or what you’ll do in the future, you are forgiven now and forever! AMEN!

Now let’s have a look at a story from John 8:2‭-‬12 NKJV

Jesus arose early and went to the temple to teach….. let’s see what happened:

Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Wow! What a King we serve!

Notice how the scribes and Pharisees were trying to catch him out. They attempted to use the Law given by Moses (the law written on tablets of stone by God himself), so that they had something to accuse him of.

The scribes and Pharisees were those kind of people who were the so called “upholders of the law”. But we know in our spirit and from God’s Word, that no one has ever been able to fulfill God’s law, except Jesus himself.

The law’s purpose was to make us aware of what sin is, and that we will never be able to keep the law! The law was given so that we will realize that we need a savior, and that savior is Jesus, God’s beloved Son.

So what did Jesus do when he realized they were trying to test him with the law? He threw the law straight back at them. He asked them that if there is anyone between them who has not committed a sin, let that person be the first to stone the woman for committing adultery.

What happened…of course everyone looked inward and realised that they can’t throw a stone at this woman as they were all sinners, and they left one by one until there was no one left.

And I love how Jesus responds once he got up and noticed that everyone left…. “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Oh what grace Jesus shows towards this woman.

He didn’t make her feel bad, or remind her of what she had done. Neither did he stone her – even though according to the law and what he said to the scribes and Pharisees, he was able to do, as he has and never will sin.

No! And instead he says to her that he doesn’t condemn her, and because he doesn’t condemn her (as God in the flesh) , who else is able to condemn this woman? Therefore he urges her to sin no more.

He is saying the same thing to us today –

“‘Place Your name Here’  where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you? Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Listen, Jesus loves you soooooo much, that he died in your place so that you could have eternal life with Him in Heaven.

Here are the lessons from today’s message:

  • God the Father / Jesus does not condemn you.
  • Jesus did not come to blame you for any wrong things you have done in the past, present or future.
  • He came to set us free from the HUGE debt of sin we could not pay.
  • He paid for our sin with His precious blood on the cross.
  • There is nothing that you can do that will seperate you from the love Jesus has for you.

Hebrews 12:1‭-‬2 NKJV

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

He is our Provider, He is our Healer, He is our Redeemer, He is our King, now and forever, AMEN!
